Head over to the Park

Park and Field that is!

My family attended the Valentine's Afternoon Kids High Tea at Park & Field on Sunday, and what a find this restaurant is. Park & Field is Logan Square's Vintage Sports Club and Eatery.  Located at 3509 W. Fullerton Avenue, Park & Field occupies a very large space that was once an old garage/gas station.  You would never know what it once was, as now with its beautiful chandelier light fixtures, brick walls, large fireplace, and even a couple of fire tables, all I could think was it would make a great venue for a party or even a wedding (in other years, and hopefully again soon, they do host a lot of private parties.)

Yet, even better than their indoor space is their more than 6,000 square foot patio which is particularly incredible for this winter.  The patio which sports bocce ball courts and a vintage camper bar, also offers numerous fire pits encircled by adirondack chairs, and well ventilated tents with gas heaters.

The afternoon tea event was adorable.  We were served a tower of various tea sandwiches and pastries, hot chocolate, and we opted for the Hey "Butter Butter" for our included cocktail.  The Hey "Butter Butter" was made up of hot Kraken rum, fall spiced butter, and vanilla ice cream.  It was quite possibly the best tasting hot drink I've ever had, and somehow it seemed to stay warm forever.  The drink alone warrants a return visit.  The kids took polaroid pictures by the fire and used them along with provided crafting supplies to create Valentine's cards for us.  They also got to decorate their own cookies. It was literally a sweet escape for us on a frigid, winter's day.

The owner informed me of the many, many, family friendly events they hold throughout the year, and described an environment where kids are welcome to run around while parents relax a little.  The overall summer feel they are aiming for is that of a backyard, Chicago family barbeque.  In the meantime, it's winter apres ski feel is ideal for social distancing and staying safe.

This is the type of place you wish there were more of.  I see it becoming a regular hang-out for my family and I think you will too.
