Camp Theraplay: Building Lifelong Resilience through Play

June 24, 2022

Now more than ever, many children are struggling to build social connections and regulate their emotions. In a 2020 survey in Chicago, 71% of parents said the pandemic took a toll on their child’s mental health¹. Whether it be building connections or expanding the ability to tolerate discomfort, Camp Theraplay can help!

Camp Theraplay is a week-long summer camp at The Theraplay Clinic in Lakeview. Led by mental health professionals, your child will be supported through an evidence based play-therapy model that incorporates playful games to foster connection.

Theraplay is a therapeutic approach focused on strengthening relationships and connection through play. Theraplay meets your child where they are at and uses engaging activities and games to foster joyful shared experiences. Unlike traditional play therapy models, Theraplay takes place on a non-verbal level, encouraging children to “do” positive interactions.

At Camp Theraplay, your child will have the opportunity to learn and practice cooperation between peers, self control, and trust of others. We will provide your child with a structured daily schedule including group theraplay activities, movement and creative focused opportunities, and calming breaks.

Come to camp and build lifelong resilience through play!
