Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana for a Family Friendly Vacation

Our Top Five Reasons Why You Should Visit

By Debra Flanagan, Macaroni KID Chicago Northside March 6, 2023

Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana in Punta Cana is an all-inclusive beach-side resort with fun and sun for every member of your family. With both an adult-only and a family-friendly section, it's perfect for every family. Plus you can always drop off the little ones at the Parakeets Kids Club and escape to the adults-only side for some extra relaxation. The kids (ages 4-12) will be entertained with art projects, cooking classes, lab experiments, movies, and more.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana is exceptionally clean with spectacular views of the crystal blue waters of their many pools, as well as the sea. While that may be reason enough to check it out, here are our top five reasons to plan a stay.

1. It's all-inclusive. Not only are the food and drinks at six diverse restaurants included, but also three additional bars (two of which you can swim up to), 24 hour room service, non-motorized boating activities, and you can even use allotted points at Joe Merchant's Coffee and Provisions to help stock your own mini bar.

Restaurant highlights:

  • The breakfast buffet at The Boathouse Eatery is endless. With various made-to-order stations for eggs, Dominican food, and even DIY Bloody Marys and Margaritas, they really have something for everyone. There is even a little buffet section with staples the kids will love.
  • The JWB Steakhouse is amazing. Choose from a variety of cuts, all marinated in herb butter and sea salt, then select a sauce, and mouth-watering sides. There was nothing on the menu that wasn't fantastic.
  • Treat yourself to a nine-course, culinary journey at  A-Lam-Bik. (Note, only included for Villa guests, otherwise, an additional charge will apply.) Must be 18+.
  • And don't forget to get a cheeseburger at Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Across the resort, you will find every tropical drink concoction you can imagine, as well as Landshark lager that is brewed onsite, all served with a smile from the very attentive and friendly staff.

2. The scents. The one thing that can never be shared via an article or image is how great the hotel smells. As soon as you set foot in the lobby you know you have arrived in paradise, simply from the heavenly aroma.

This will only continue as you get to your room. It may sound silly, but the shower gel was one of the most memorable parts of my trip. My one regret is that I didn't get a chance to visit the spa to try to purchase a bottle. I guess I will just have to go back!

3. The rooms. The rooms are bright and spacious. I spent plenty of time on the patio enjoying room service at the table or reading from the large lounger. I even slept with the patio door open so I could be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves and the warm breezes.

There are a variety of rooms to choose from, including the rooms on the bottom floor of each building, which have swim-out pools. I really appreciate that the rooms also have a transparent child gate leading outside to keep the kids safe at all times. All rooms have a rainfall shower that is therapeutic and rejuvenating. The villas even have additional outdoor showers!

4. The pool/beach seating. Nothing can ruin a relaxing vacation more than having to wake up at sunrise just to reserve lounge chairs by the pool. That was not a concern at all at Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana. There were plenty of chairs at the pool and on the beach, and no one can claim them with a towel before 10am.

There are also dozens of available cabanas with ample shade. There are even child-size lounge chairs around the kid pool and underwater swings at the swim-up bars. I love that there are a variety of seating options to suit whatever your plans are for the day.

5. The entertainment. There is never a dull moment at Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana. The pool parties are over the top, from the poolside dancers and foam to the floating bars and food trays (food trays are an additional cost)

The nightlife was no less unique with a rock and roll cover band one night to a Dominican night filled with bachata dancing, local street food, and a dessert buffet to satisfy the sweetest sweet tooth. Late nights can be spent singing karaoke or at a Silent Disco.

I really loved how the staff seemed to enjoy themselves as much as we did. My favorite, Juan Carlos, was always there to pull you onto the dance floor and guide you through a Latin dance. You will also find family shows in the daily activity calendar.

All in all, Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana is a stress-free resort for the whole family. Between the Parakeets Kids' Club, the casual restaurant options, family pool, and vast beach front, your kids will have as much fun as you will.

Meanwhile, you will feel pampered, as all your entertainment needs, food, and drink are brought to you on figurative silver platters — or even literal floating platters in the pool!
