Mercury Theater Chicago strikes again with another hit show!
MotherFreakingHood! is a laugh-out-loud musical journey through the many stages and phases of motherhood. A little risky for those of us in the audience who have actually birthed children, (if you know what I mean.)
The show follows three women, of different circumstances, travel through the good, the bad, the ugly, and the absolutely hilarious moments of becoming and being a mom. The show takes an irreverent, no holds barred, approach through labor and delivery, park playgroups, and grade school drop-off lines, to drivers ed., first dates, and ultimately an empty nest. Remember all those times you said, "one day we'll laugh about this", well today's the day.
Every mother will relate as they either relive some of their own crazy parenting experiences or can only imagine the new hell that is coming their way. While the musical comedy is boldly honest, the hysterical caricature can be appreciated by anyone.
MotherFreakingHood! is playing in the Venus Cabaret Theater at the Mercury through June 11th, with shows on Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm, and 3pm matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. The intimate Venus Cabaret Theater seats eighty around small, dimly lit, cocktail tables, allowing for an interactive experience, as characters occasionally travel off the stage and into the audience. Visit the bar before the show and bring your drinks back to your table, or you can even continue to visit the bar during the performance.
