The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa does a fantastic job of making and grooming the snow at The Mountain Top. We went only last week, and were really impressed with the terrain. Plus, it being an early spring, it is so nice to be able to ski with fewer, if any, layers. It's especially easier to take kids to the slopes when they aren't complaining, even crying, about frozen toes. Lastly, its a great opportunity to enjoy a little après-ski on the lodge deck or around the fire pit. Check it out before March 3rd!

Skiing isn't the only reason to visit The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa:

  • It is so close by. My husband likes to say it is "two turns away", because we take Irving Park to 94 and then the second turn is when exiting 94 onto route 50. It is a quick 90 minutes.
  • Checking in at the front desk on a Friday evening is like stepping into a different world. The resort exudes a luxurious vacation vibe. From the plush seating in the lobby lounge, to the delicious aromas coming from the Geneva Chophouse, to the glow of the fire pit on the Embers Terrace, the stress of the work week melts away.

  • The pristine, modern, accommodations are beautiful, as are the views. We had a Junior Suite with an adjoining Deluxe 2 Queen for the kids. The teenagers appreciated having space of their own so they could stay up way past their parents, as usual. However, everyone piled onto the large L-shaped sofa, and got cozy by the fire, to watch movies together.
  • You can upgrade your stay with access to the Geneva Club Lounge. The lounge feels like a library or study in a large mansion. It is warm and quiet. Kids can play video games on the computers or board games in front of the fireplace. A breakfast buffet is available daily. Hors d'oeuvres are served during evening happy hours, and snacks and soft drinks are for the taking during the hours in-between.
  • If the indoor pool and hot tub aren't enough to entertain the kids, guest may purchase half-day passes to Moose Mountain Falls Waterpark at Timber Ridge Lodge, a mere complimentary trolley ride away. Moose Mountain Falls Waterpark recently underwent a renovation that increased the number of slides and attractions for younger children.

While the snow may be left to melt away at The Mountain Top, soon enough the grass will be green and long enough to hide eggs for the resort's annual Easter Egg Hunt. An extravagant Easter brunch will be served on March 31st, followed by many other Easter activities. It's a special weekend to visit. There's even a deal to stay over Easter night, and Chicago Public Schools just so happen to be off on Monday.

Though there's never really a bad time for a family getaway is there? The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa always has things to do for guests of all ages. Horseback riding, golf, swimming, and spa treatments are only a few of many different activities you can take part in year round. It's a multi-purpose destination for spring break, a mid-week escape, a long weekend, or even a quick overnight.
