Our Kids, Our Schools: Vote for Change

Your Voice Matters More than EVER in the Upcoming School Board Election!

By Kimberly Brown, District 4 Candidate for the Chicago Board of Education October 8, 2024

Why the First-Ever Elected Chicago School Board Matters

  • For the first time ever, the Chicago Board of Education will be transitioning to an elected school board, opposed to a Mayor-appointed one.
    • As part of this transition, the City of Chicago has been divided into 10 districts.
    • Each district will be represented by one elected Board Member and another Board Member still appointed by the Mayor.
    • The Mayor will also appoint one President of the Board, for a total of 21 Board Members that will serve a two year term.
  • This gives Chicago residents a unique opportunity to have some say in how Chicago Public Schools are run!
  • Strong schools create thriving neighborhoods and are the key to revitalizing Chicago.

Who Should Vote

ALL registered Chicago voters! Including …

  • Any Chicago student (CPS or private) who is 18 years or older by Nov 5!
  • Recent Chicago graduates who are away at college.
  • Parents and grandparents of current or future public or private school students in Chicago.
  • Any person without students in their family, that understands that strong schools create strong economies.

How to Vote

The Chicago School Board election is on the same ballot as the Presidential election. Therefore, when you vote for President, continue down that ballot and vote for the leaders of Chicago Public Schools Board of Education.
