Camp Nebagamon

At Camp Nebagamon we believe in the power of autonomy, experiences in the outdoors, and community to change lives. We’ve provided life-changing summers for boys (2nd-9th graders) on the shores of Lake Nebagamon in Wisconsin since 1929.

At Nebagamon there are no pre-assigned activities. Every day campers design their schedule choosing from twenty different activities. This ability to choose empowers campers to explore existing passions and take safe risks, allowing them to discover new ones.

Nebagamon offers an extensive wilderness tripping program ranging from introductory trips to three-week long expeditions. Campers traverse stunning Northwoods destinations. Spending unfettered time in the wilderness with friends, they gain confidence, develop grit, and recognize how capable they are.

And it all happens in a community where campers are seen and are appreciated for who they are. A community that values acts of kindness and celebrates empathy.

Your son will develop his best self at Camp Nebagamon.

Business Review

"From the moment I heard about Nebagamon, I knew it was the right camp for my son. Now that he’s experienced it, I can confidently say he’s a ‘lifer.’ He came home brimming with excitement and positivity about his time in the Northwoods. He also took risks in ways I hadn’t seen before. I’m so, so thrilled he’s found Nebagamon, and I’m grateful for the promise of the next few summers that still await him."

"My son’s experience at Camp Nebagamon has been nothing short of transformational. At the end of every summer, I am always stunned by the changes I see in him. I witness a calm confidence in his demeanor and a deep respect for the natural world, which is so evident in the joy with which he recounts his wilderness trips. This year, he came home from his first 7-day backpacking trip and said, ‘Mom, it was SO hard, but SO worth it. Next year, I want to try an even LONGER trip!’ So what is the magic of this place? I think it’s a combination of so many things, but most of all, it’s creating for these boys a sense of true belonging."

"When you feel like you belong, you can be your best self. And that sense of belonging isn’t tied to just one friend group or cabin, but a larger community that treasures the shared experience of those few months every summer at this very special place in the Northwoods."

"Every year my son has come home from Nebagamon, he is a better version of himself. He is more thoughtful, more confident, and his outlook on life has matured. Nothing brought this home more than when he told me about Paul Bunyan Day. When I asked who won, he said his team had, but, ‘That’s not what it’s about. It’s about having fun, making sure the younger kids are included, and cheering everyone on.’ That is the kind of person I want my son to be. That is Camp Nebagamon."
